In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

One of the things that i have used would be the idea of having skateboarding in the intro of the movie as does Lords Of Dog town, I also in one of the first edits of the intro i use a song by the who "my generation". I developed my idea by taking the conventional American skateboarding movie and developing it it to a British skateboarding movie with slight references to European elements. I also developed my product by attempting to change the messages and values of the movie. At one stage i challenged forms and conventions because i wanted to do a political radical piece which opened with images of a Buddhist monk burning and shots of previous presidents and political speakers, and edit it into a fast cut message that had images of war and fighting and violence mixed in with the politicians in an attempt to give more about what the movie is going to be about to the audience, though i had to take this out for the reason of all of that footage has been taken footage but non of it was my own, also the burning Monk would have mean i could not make my intro appeal to the younger ages because it would be classified as an 18.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

My media product represents particual social groups through the main character ( Pablo Vinuesa ). though while creating the intro i didnt consider which social groups it would be targeting, therefore it only represents the niche skater steriotypes, Pablo represents hippy skateboarders even though he's spanish, the settingn detail gives the vibe of UK youth.

Looking back at you preliminary task what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

I learnt how to use convergence, e.g. I used the who's song "my generation" in my skate intro which = convergance.
I have used synergy with music in my production, and is a major role in creating the right atmosphere.
- also about genre what type of editing is to be used for desired atmosphere, e.g. quick cutting can give the scene of action genre.
- how to incorporate continuety into a production
- promotion and marketing.
- non diagetic and diegetic sounds
- shot/reverse shot
- 180 degree rule
I have also learnt that it is hard to get copy right for songs that arnt your own, i tryed to use "my generation by the who, but i could not get copyrights from UMG, therfore i used music that i created and recorded last year with the Funky Monkeys.

what have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

who would be the audience for your media product?

Well the inital audience is to stream the product to young teens - young adults (14-21), but it could be argued that from the intro it suggests it maybe a niche audience, focusing on skaters, this is incorrect it is only incorporating the niche audience into the intro to give background and setting of character and place. though the theme of skating is played throughout the film because it is a part of one of the main characters Life.

How did you attract/address you audience?

To attract my desired audience i used the main character a handsome looking Spanish boy, typical skater/hippy and the fact he's skating, attracts the niche audience, which would be wound up of people who believe they have some connection to skateboarding. Also the music was a way of addressing the audience, the who "my generation" In further attraction could could have posters made aswell and would use photo's like these of pablo.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

Warp X are exactly the right kind of media institution that would distribute my media product, because Warp X are the type of media institution that are beginning to explore the implications of digital technology for traditional production and business models, The harnessing of cutting edge digital technology with low budget production methods, namely high definition, is what makes Warp X well placed to take advantage of the coming digital transformation of film distribution. The perfect distributor in my case, because looking to make movies that could be as good as mainstream, for a much more suitable cost.

An Interview with Pablo Vinuesa

Here Pablo is helping to promote The Intro he Starred in for "Revolution". There is also use of convergence in the media Because Pablo addresses to the audience his personnel choice of cereals that he eats before Skating.

Audience Research 2

after this feed back i see that people may take the intro on the chin as a low key skate movie rather than a art skate intro into a conteperary style of filming movies, without the quick cut section at the begin i feel it wont gain enough attention to viewers to have another interest and assume its going to be skating 24/7. so because of that i have remake decisions and used Work that i made with a group of mates, origional own made music, which is a shame i had to change it because of copyright issues because with my music it gives it a more art movie atmosphere.
Also some finid the "burning Monk" camera shots were acceptible for a 15 which i would agree with but i had to take this out of the intro because it was taken imagery.

Marketing the kings speech with guest speaker Colin Burrows (the special treats production company)

On the 8th of Febuary 2011 i went with my media group to the picture house in cambridge, where we watched "The King's Speach" for the first 118mins, i though it was a good movie didnt attract me to much but i thought Collin Firth gave a great performance and the film most deffinatly deserves the many oscar nominations it's up for. Collin Burrows spoke about the promotion and marketing of cemetery junction and showed us a trailer and teaser trailer that he had filmed. Also we look at the pro-mo and marketing of Never Let Me Go, starring Kira Kinghtly and others which dosent look like a best selling film because of the sci-fi twist about them being clones reproducted for organs of the original humans, which is basicly the whole idea of the Island starring Ewan Mcgregor, so thats slightly unappealing to me but it was a interesting trip.

risk assesment

Risk - is the chance of something dangerous or harmfull happening, hazard - something that can cause danger or harm.
1. Identify hazzards:
- because of working on the roads there will be the danger of being hit by a Car/Bike/Van/Truck/Lorry.
- Police in no skate zone.
- falling of of the skateboard.
2. who might be harmed and how:
- Pablo vinuesa might get hurt because he is the skateboarder, and there a risk of him getting hit by something.
- I may get hurt because im opperating the camera, on a skateboard for some shots to get a wider range of camera angles,  and there a risk of me getting hit by something.
3. evaluate risks & consider precautions
- saftey clothing.
- choose area thats unlikely to have cars passing by regulary.
- have people driving where i want them to be.

Analysis of opening minutes of movie

Tomb raider - Cradle of life,

opening minutes:

-opening credits "paramount pictures present." all shot over moving water, with adventurious music, symbloising the genre of the movie with in the first 30 seconds of the movie begining we have some thoughts on what it is going to produce.
-then we see a cliff with a beautiful city on top of it, and "Santorini, Greese" in print on screen.
- zooms into the city and the camera takes us all the way into a ruin on the edge of the cliff where a wedding is taking place and new music and a different atmosphere is current.
- the intro to this film tells us it's a high quality movie and also that it will be adventurous and mysterious.

This adverts target audience is people who are interested and particepate in skateboarding,
the adverts product is a enviromentaly charged wheel. the advert is a picture of a proffesional
skateboarder called Rick McCrank doing a ollie over a hip in a concreate skatepark.
There is a artwork tree which had linkage to the product because the tree is the art work
on the wheel. there is also a blurred effect in the background and the picture is focused on
the skateboarder. There is a sign with the skaters name for celebrity appeal and next to it
the "25% eco soy" which makes people think oh if Rick's riding these new environmentally
friendly wheels then i should to. There is also a label of the companys brand name whom
sells the wheels in big green ( the colour of environmeatlly friendly ) writing adding to the
factor being green is the next best thing. The ancorage in this advert stands out very clearly in
a smart way that everything else is blurred out.

promoting and marketing my flim idea

Promoting and marketing:

because my film idea is quite a niche audience, contemperary and low budget styled movie i would not be looking at big adverts on buses, bus stops and benches. Instead i would probally be looking to preview it at a small arts houses afew times to spread word of mouth. Also because of the new way i intend on filming this movie, it would make sence to advertise it in the same style, to let the audience in on what type of film this is. Once i have spread the word of mouth i then would want to broadcast the film to a wider audience and introduce this style to a more rounded audience.

The Doors - Peace Frog (with lyrics)

or i will use this song for the intro, feel free to comment on which song you think would be better people.

The Who - My Generation

I think that i am going to use this song for my intro to my movie which will be a skateboarding complantation.

Trainspotting (trailer)

this is another influence towards my idea of revelution.

Lords of Dogtown - OFFICIAL Skate Teaser

This is another influence into my movie idea.

Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas (Trailer)

this is one of the films that has inspired me for my movie idea, and style of editing during a few scenes.

film outline

influences:
    - Fear & Lothing In Las Vegas
    - Trainspotting
    -  Lords of Dogtown
Title idea:
    -Revolution
About a group of three boys who are tired of the current social scene and descide its time for a change. So each of them with different skills develop through the movie, and we see their effort on creating a revelution, with mind bending scenes and excentric camera angles and effects.

This film will be appeling to an audience of people age 16-25.

I want this film to be filmed in the style of a skate film, using unique camera angles and lenses like fish eyes, i want this movie to resemble symbolicly that the boys are trying to make a revelution, and i would want to temp with this new style of making a movie with diolouge and all other features of a movie in a new contemperary style.

The intro:
    - i would like the intro music to be either peace frog by the doors or my generation by the who.
    - opening shot, sun rising zooms out and we see the main character skitching (holding on to a moving car on a skateboard).
    - discontinuos cutting.
    - some of the skate shots with credits in using a fisheye camera lense.
    - for my editing i want to enhance the on screen brighter colours, which will give it a more cheerful atmosphere considering it will be film over winter.
    - also for when the title credit comes on im going to have a big shot where the skater grinds a rail down a set of stairs or over a table top doing a wedge ollie and having the title in big bold red capital letters then freesing it on that for a second to emphsise the title.

This is the Animatic for the idea of Revolution.
